Brian Sawyer

Brian Sawyer has been an active resource to the radio and television broadcasting industry and has consulted to over 75 on-air broadcast operations.

Currently President of Advanced Transmission Solutions, he has documented engineering and technical applications for new AM, FM and TV licenses from Coast to Coast to Coast. Prior to founding ATS, Sawyer was at CBC Engineering Headquarters during the 80s and 90s.

Beyond the quiet of Canadian. American and European client communities, as a consultant, he directed broadcast missions for the Canadian Army, most recently he set up live reception and retransmission facilities in Kosova via satellite and built local studios to allow soldiers news from home as well as access for their own information and entertainment. His war zone broadcast construction service also includes Bosnia and Israel.

His career began in Hamilton with CHML and CHCH TV before moving onto the CTV flagship CFTO-Toronto. From there, he went into practise providing technical documentation for new broadcast applicants.

Most recently, ATS was responsible for the transmission facilities and licensing of CHPH-Wemindji as well as the Hydro-Québec radio facility at EM-1 in James Bay.

Sawyer's expertise in in multi-transmision systems including fibre-optic networks as well as satellite and digital systems.
